Hey folks. Thanks for the comments and the other forms of encouragement the past week or so. Kim and I just got to Houston.
Tomorrow will be a big day of tests and pre-op consultations. Though we had a great time with family in the Keys last week, it was sad to say goodbye to the family. Please pray for our kids and Kim’s parents, who will be taking care of them, with the help of our many dear friends.
It was so nice to be able to go to church this morning. It was just Joy and me, but it was truly food for my soul. To see friends, get some hugs, and to hear a fantastic message from Pastor Jared was the ideal way to send me on our way.
In particular, he reminded us “to not forget the signs” that God is with us, even when we feel alone, lost, or too often failures in trying to live by faith. He was quoting from The Silver Chair, by CS Lewis, where Aslan reminds Jill to remember the signs that would keep her from faltering on her journey.
I haven’t read the book, but I certainly related. I feel like God is always reminding me He’s with me in crazy “coincidences”. My problem is that I either want to over analyze and interpret the signs in order to know God’s will, or I simply forget about them in difficult times and fear that God is not there are all.
Now that I’m away from home, family, and friends for at least 3 weeks for this surgery, I really need to remember the signs. Especially that big one we celebrated 2 weeks ago. Ya know, that whole empty tomb thing…
Much love and humble appreciation,
Brent
